LS11 Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) Re-rating Certification – Queensland

If you’ve upgraded your vehicle’s suspension or modified its structure to carry more weight safely, you may need an LS11 modification certificate. Autocert is authorised by TMR to inspect and certify GVM re-ratings for light vehicles across Greater Brisbane, in accordance with the latest Queensland Code of Practice (QCOP).

What is LS11 GVM Re-rating?

LS11 certification allows legal re-rating of your vehicle's Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM), enabling it to carry more payload. It applies to light vehicles (GVM ≤ 4,500 kg) constructed on a ladder frame chassis (monocoque vehicles are excluded).

Permitted LS11 Modifications

  • Increase of GVM up to 10% above the Original Vehicle Manufacturer (OEM) rating.
  • Re-rating to match an SSM-approved vehicle (must meet identical specifications).
  • GVM re-rating with the addition of an axle (LB2 certification required) Re-rating to match.
  • Another variant of the same make/model/chassis series.

LS11 Certification Pathways

  • Pathway 1: Increase GVM by up to 10% over the OVM rating.
  • Pathway 2: Match a Second Stage Manufacture (SSM) approved variant
  • Pathway 3: GVM upgrade by fitting an additional axle (LB2 mod also required).
  • Pathway 4: Match the GVM of another OVM variant using identical components.

Modifications NOT Permitted Under LS11

  • GCM (Gross Combination Mass) or towing capacity changes.
  • Any changes not listed under QCOP Section 1.1.
  • Vehicles with monocoque chassis construction.

General Compliance Requirements

To be eligible for LS11 re-rating, all critical vehicle components must be verified as suitable for the new load, including:
Chassis frame

  • Suspension
  • Brakes
  • Axles
  • Steering
  • Tyres & rims
  • Tail shaft

Vehicles must comply with all applicable ADRs and Transport Operations regulations.
