What Is LO1 Certification?

LO1 certification is a visual inspection process used to verify that a light vehicle complies with ADRs, based on:

  • Vehicle category (e.g., MA, MC, NA, NB)
  • Date of manufacture (pre- or post-1 July 1988)
  • Edition of ADRs (Second or Third Edition).

It applies to:

  • Australian-delivered vehicles modified after registration.
  • Certain used imported vehicles requiring ADR compliance.
  • Individually Constructed Vehicles (ICVs) within defined scope.

What’s Covered Under LO1

Our LO1 inspection includes a full ADR compliance assessment of:

  • Seatbelts & anchorages.
  • Brakes, lights, and glazing.
  • Mirrors, emissions, tyres, and more.
  • Verification of compliance to both Second and Third Edition ADRs as applicable.

Note: LO1 does not cover personal import vehicles (LO3), heavy vehicles, or ICVs over 4.5 tonnes GVM.

How It Works – Step-by-Step

  1. Initial Consultation: You send though a copy of your RVR approval to our email. 
  2. On-Site Visual Inspection: We assess your vehicle’s age, category, and history to determine applicable ADRs. We then performs an  inspection using LO1 checklist.
  3. Certification Report: A compliance checklist and certification form is completed. Any non-compliances are identified.
  4. Modification Plate & Certificate: If the vehicle passes, we apply the modification plate and issue your LO1 compliance certificate.
  5. Rego Update at TMR: You then take the certificate to TMR with a Safety inspection Certificate and update your vehicle’s registration records.
