LO Code Breakdown
🔧 LO1 – ADR Compliance
- Visual inspection to confirm compliance with Second or Third Edition ADRs
- Common for imported vehicles that don’t need a personal import plate
- Includes checklist review of 80+ ADRs: seatbelts, lighting, emissions, brakes, glazing, etc.
🚗 LO2 – Individually Constructed Vehicles (ICVs)
- For ICVs under 4.5 tonnes
- Full compliance check with relevant ADRs and AVSRs
- Builder is considered the manufacturer—responsible for full documentation, noise/emissions testing, and structural compliance
🌏 LO3 – Personally Imported Vehicle Compliance
Required for vehicles imported under a personal import approval
Visual inspection to confirm seatbelt's, emissions, lights, glass, and child restraint anchorages meet ADRs
Key aspects:
LHD to RHD conversions (if required)
Headlight aim and beam pattern
Emissions and noise testing
Window glazing and tinting
🛵 LO4 & LO5 – ICV Tricycles (LEM1 & LEP1)
- Certification for three-wheeled tricycles (motorcycle-based or cabin trikes)
- Must meet custom tricycle ADR category requirements (LEP1 or LEM1)
- Stationary noise testing and checklists are mandatory
🏍️ LO7 – ICV Motorcycles
- For custom-built two-wheel motorcycles (categories LA–LD)
- Must pass ADR compliance, noise and emission testing
- Separate checklist required depending on vehicle configuration
